3 ingredient play-dough recipe

Updated: Jun 27, 2020

Play-dough is always fun, most kids love it. Especially if it's the right consistency, temperature... and smells nice! Tools for play-dough can be things from the kitchen, like a garlic press for example... or why not a potato masher? Spoons, forks and other things with fun shapes are useful too. Let alone play-dough cutters.

Here is how I made the dough. Click image for video:

Recipe for the base:

2 cups of salt

5 cups of flour

2 cups of hot water

3 table spoons of vegetable oil

Mix the salt and flour separately and the water and oil separately. If you only make the basic base, then add the flour mix into the water mix now. However, if you choose to add more things to it, add that to the water before mixing it all together.

If you want to add more sensory stimulation to the dough, here's a few things you can do:

- Add colour! You can use food colouring if you make this for younger kids, to keep it non toxic. I used acrylic paint, as this one is made for older children.

- Make it smell nice and flowery! I added a spoon of hair condition to make it smell really good... This also makes the dough a tiny bit smoother.

- Do you like glitter? That can be added to make it even more fun to play with.
